Tangerine Book
Paul Fisher, an eighth-grade student with poor eyesight, harbors a deep-seated fear of his older brother, Erik. While packing up their home in Houston, Paul experiences a chilling vision of Erik, clad in a ski mask, leaning out of a car window and swinging a baseball bat menacingly towards him. This unsettling vision is documented in his journal, marking the beginning of the diary-novel, Tangerine.
The Fisher family is relocating from Houston to Tangerine County, Florida, an area renowned for its tangerine orchards. Upon their arrival, Paul is confronted with the sight of tangerine trees burning in large piles. It soon becomes apparent that many of these groves are being destroyed to clear land for new housing developments, including the one the Fisher family is moving into: Lake Windsor Downs, a pristine and affluent community where all the homes appear identical.
