Swachh Survekshan 2023 Ranking List
The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu presented the Swachh Survekshan Awards 2023 at a function organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs in New Delhi. Indore and Surat were adjudged the ‘cleanest cities’ in the country while Navi Mumbai retained the third position in the Central Government’s annual cleanliness survey, the results of which were announced on January 11.
As per the Swachh Suvekshan results for 2023 released by President Droupadi Murmu, Saswad in Maharashtra got the cleanest city award among all cities with less than one lakh population. The survey, which began in 2016 initially covered only 73 major cities and in 2023, the number has gone up to 4,477. The latest ranking has prioritized addressing legacy dumpsites, managing plastic waste, implementing the principles of reducing, reuse, recycling, and ensuring the safety of SafaiMitras.
