The Rudram Namakam Chamakam is a vital Vedic mantra or chant dedicated to Rudra, an aspect of Lord Shiva, found in the Krishna Yajurveda’s Taittiriya Samhita. This sacred text is composed of two significant sections: the Namakam and the Chamakam. The Chamakam is traditionally included in the Shri Rudram, which is also referred to as Sri Rudraprasna, Satarudrīya, and Rudradhyaya.
Shri Rudram encompasses two chapters (praśna) from the fourth kāṇda (book) of the Taittiriya Samhita, which is part of the Krishna Yajurveda. The names of these chapters are Namakam (chapter five) and Chamakam (chapter seven), respectively.
