Rabindranath Tagore Biography

Rabindranath Tagore, also known as Gurudev, was a towering figure in Indian literature and culture. Born on May 7, 1861, in Calcutta (now Kolkata), he belonged to a prominent Bengali family.

Tagore was a polymath and a visionary who played a significant role in the cultural rejuvenation of India during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He founded the Vishva Bharati University in Shantiniketan, which aimed to combine the best of Indian and Western educational philosophies.
