Understanding the PM Pik Vima Yojana

This scheme extends coverage for localized risks and post-harvest losses while promoting technology adoption for accurate yield estimation. By raising farmer awareness and offering low premium rates, the scheme aims to boost crop insurance penetration across India.

PM Pik Vima Yojana Application Form Guidelines

  1. Fill in only one proposal form for all crops listed in a survey number.
  2. Complete the Proposal Form accurately. Ensure that the proposer signs the form, and include all required documents.
  3. Insurance is based on Utmost Good Faith; insured individuals must disclose all essential facts and not conceal any material details. Always clarify any material fact you consider important.
  4. If there are any false or misleading statements, misrepresentation, or non-disclosure of material facts in the proposal form, the Insurance may become voidable at the Insurer’s discretion.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Compulsory Component
All farmers taking Seasonal Agricultural Operations (SAO) loans from financial institutions (loanee farmers) must be covered compulsorily.
  • Voluntary Component
The Scheme is optional for farmers who do not take loans.

Coverage of Risks and Exclusions:

This scheme covers various stages of crops and associated risks that lead to crop loss:

  • Prevented Sowing/Planting Risk:
If the insured area cannot be sown or planted due to a lack of rainfall or poor seasonal conditions.
  • Standing Crop (Sowing to Harvesting):
Comprehensive risk insurance covers yield losses from non-preventable risks such as drought, floods, pests, and natural disasters.
  • Post-Harvest Losses:
Coverage is available for up to two weeks after harvesting for crops that need to dry in the field, against specific perils like cyclones and unseasonal rains.
  • Localized Calamities:
Losses due to localized risks such as hailstorms or landslides affecting specific farms in the notified area.

  • b) Stabilizing farmers’ income to ensure their continued livelihood in farming.
  • c) Promoting the adoption of innovative and modern agricultural methods.
  • d) Ensuring the flow of credit into the agriculture sector, contributing to food security and promoting crop diversification, growth, and competitiveness while safeguarding farmers from production risks.
