Khatme Qadria

The Khatme Qadria is a significant spiritual path named after Abdul Qadir Gilani (1077–1166, also known as Jilani), a respected Hanbali scholar from Gilan, Iran. This order emphasizes strong adherence to the core principles of Sunni Islam. The founder of the Qadiriyya, Abdul Qadir Gilani, was not only a scholar but also a prominent preacher. After studying at the madrasa of Abu Sa’id al-Mubarak, he became the leader of this school following al-Mubarak’s death in 1119.

Spread of the Qadiriyya

Beginning in Iraq, the Qadiriyya expanded its reach to Syria in the late fourteenth and early fifteenth centuries, establishing important centers in cities like Damascus and Hama. Moreover, the order found its way to Morocco when refugees fleeing Spain in 1492 brought the teachings of Qadiriyya with them.
