What is Form I-90?
Form I-90, officially known as the Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card, is used by lawful permanent residents (green card holders) in the United States to renew or replace their Green Card (Permanent Resident Card).
Uses of Form I-90
- Your Green Card has expired or is about to expire (within six months)
- Your Green Card was lost, stolen, or damaged
- Your name or other information has changed and needs updating
- You never received your original Green Card
- Your Green Card contains incorrect information due to a USCIS error
How to Apply for Form I-90?
You can apply for a Green Card replacement or renewal online or by mail.
- Online Application (Recommended)
- Visit the USCIS website: https://www.uscis.gov/i-90
- Create a USCIS online account
- Complete the I-90 form and upload documents
- Pay the filing fee (usually $455 + $85 biometric fee = $540 total, but exemptions apply)
- Submit your application and track status online
- Paper Application (By Mail)
- Download Form I-90 from the USCIS website
- Fill out the form and attach supporting documents
- Include the filing fee payment (check/money order to “U.S. Department of Homeland Security”)
- Mail it to the appropriate USCIS address (varies by case)
Processing Time
