Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has introduced an RFID-based FASTag to enhance the Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) programme, reducing delays and congestion at toll plazas while ensuring smooth collection of user fees.

The **Exempted FASTag application form** is available for road users who fall under the exempted category as per Rule 11 of the NH Fee Rule 2008 and its subsequent amendments (see Annexure-1 for the List of Exempted Mechanical Vehicles). This form can be submitted by the applicant themselves or through an authorized representative.

    • Recipients of Pram Vir Chakra, Ashok Chakra, Maha Vir Chakra, Kirti Chakra, Vir Chakra, and Shaurya Chakra, if they present their photo identity card duly authenticated by the appropriate authority.
  • Used for Official Purposes by

    • The Ministry of Defense, including those eligible for exemption under the Indian Toll (Army and Air Force) Act, 1901, which also extends to the Navy;
    • The Central and State armed forces in uniform, including Paramilitary forces and police;
    • An Executive Magistrate;
    • The Fire Fighting Department or organization;
    • The National Highway Authority of India or any other Government organization using vehicles for inspection, survey, construction, or operational maintenance of national highways;
    • Ambulances;
    • Funeral vans;
    • Vehicles designed specifically for persons with physical disabilities.
