1984 Book – Summary

“1984” by George Orwell is a dystopian novel set in a totalitarian society ruled by the Party led by Big Brother. The protagonist, Winston Smith, works for the Party and secretly harbors rebellious thoughts against its oppressive regime. He begins a forbidden relationship with Julia, another Party member, and together they seek to undermine the Party’s control.

However, they are eventually caught by the Thought Police, tortured, and forced to betray each other. The novel explores themes of surveillance, propaganda, and the dangers of totalitarianism, painting a bleak picture of a future where individuality and freedom are suppressed in the name of absolute power.
