The report, crafted by special counsel Jack Smith, serves as the final opportunity for the Department to clarify its decisions regarding the cases.
In a letter addressed to Attorney General Merrick Garland that accompanied the report, Smith defended both his own integrity and that of his team, emphasizing their commitment to impartiality throughout the proceedings. Trump faced charges related to election interference in Washington, D.C., as well as accusations of improperly retaining classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate and failing to return them to the FBI.
