The Alchemist Book, written by Brazilian author Paulo Coelho, is a captivating novel first published in 1988. Originally crafted in Portuguese, this book has transformed into an international bestseller, widely translated across many languages.

This allegorical novel follows the journey of a young Andalusian shepherd who dreams recurrently about finding a treasure in the Egyptian pyramids.

The Alchemist Book Hindi – पृष्ठभूमि

The central theme of the book is about discovering one’s destiny. However, as noted by The New York Times, The Alchemist is “more self-help than literature.” The idea of pursuing your desires is the essence of the novel and a philosophy that permeates its pages.

The Alchemist Book (द अल्केमिस्ट) was initially released by Rocco, a relatively unknown Brazilian publishing house. Despite selling well, the publisher decided to return the rights to Coelho just a year later.

After this setback, Coelho felt the need to “heal” himself. He chose to leave Rio de Janeiro with his wife and spent 40 days in the Mojave Desert. Upon returning from this journey, Coelho was determined to continue struggling and was “so convinced that it was a great book that [he] started knocking on doors.”
